Brainstorming a clan name

Packrat mentioned this in comments to the last post, so I thought I'd start a post to collect our ideas. Leave suggestions in the comments.

"Mediacorpses" (in honour of fw!)

Maybe ampulets can design your clan T-shirt :)

I vote for The Weekend Widowmakers and I would like my T shirt in bright pink and extra-small. :)

Weekend Widowmakers actually sounds really catchy. :)

30 Cal is actually pretty nice as well. Give or take lah. Some of you can give me 2 years and still make it for 30. :)

What about The White Company? After our now defunct D&D group.

Old fogeys, not so good. Sounds too ancient.

Mediacorpses...let's not associate ourselves with the TV network. :)

Let the ideas keep flowing! :)

I like Weekend Widowmakers as well. Someone design the T-shirt quick.

White Company has bad connotations.

Weekend Widowmakers is ... too goth for what is plainly the middle-aged (or getting there) and middle-class demographic that we belong to.

"Will Frag for Food"?

"The Studio"? (pretentious yes, and an oblique reference to the joo chiat place we used to game in)

"The Lengkong Tiga Tigers" (where it all started ... actually, that sounds terrible, but we're brainstorming here, so I'm just gonna throw out some ideas)

The sound of frag

Fragaholics Anonymous

Over 30 and still fraggin

Twitch Reflex (After Pshrike's newfound skillz)

The Team (simple yet encapsulates what we are striving to become)

Redleaf's Rangers. (Nyuk. Alliteration)

The Switch (around which we play)

Switchblades (just cos it's cool)

Jedi (Cos that was the inaugural frag session)

I like "Will Frag for Food" Farnee.

Then again: "The Weekend Widowmakers" is quite cool.
1) Widowmakers: Leaving the wives behind.
2) Widowmakers: Fragging people.
Nice double meaning. Lends street cred to the clan.

Well, I concede that WW will make for a nicer T-shirt. = )

Mine will most definitely NOT be in pink please. In fact, why don't we get hoodies for the guys?

Oh and btw: 524 on a Garand. = )

T-shirt idea: headless silhouettes of the seven/eight (how ever many) of us in the foreground, with a black widow in the background?

wahj - Dang. OK. I know I can't hit those numbers on the Garand. Only the Lee-Enfield or the Mosin-Nagant.

wrf T-shirt:
Why headless?

wrf rifle range:
I'm practising on the far targets. I find that if I maintain fire discipline and only aim for the furthest ones, they give more points.

I can generally reach 350-390 points with the bolt-action rifles, but to reliably break 400, I need the garand. When I find one long range target that's moving slowly, I try and ping it 3 times to get as many points out of it as I can.

While points are lower with the bolt-actions, I find that my accuracy increases (probably because I'm forced to slow down and aim) from 55%ish to 60+%.

Hmm, because the black widow chews off the heads of husbands who spend too much time away? :)

WW would be a way to keep the wives involved, and a constant reminder that most of us have wives :P

I like the Studio idea. Especially if we're capturing killscreenshots.

Still brainstorming:

FragEternity

RunRabbitRun (from WW2-era song)

wrt Rifle Range:
I'm doing best with the M-Ns. I think it's the circular sight; tiny as it may be, it allows me to see incoming targets much better than the M1.

Boko: I've found the most important important factor affecting my accuracy (besides bolt-action/semi-auto, which really translates as Garand/not-Garand)is the nature of the sights.

I like the KAR's best: very open, can see targets well. The M-N is also good. The sights on the Lee-Enfield are terrible - a fore-sight tip in a thick circle sunk in a rectangle = zero situational awareness of targets approaching from sides.

The Garand's is ok simply because it looks like an M-16's, and we've all had plenty of practice on those.

Faster go and design T-shirt, okay? And then we have to find out how much it would cost to print up 10-12 of them...

So are we set on "The Weekend Widowmakers"? Shall we start designing?

I think this is when we lob the ball over to Ampulet's court and await their creative genius...

Do they even know about this blog?

I like this font for the t-shirt.

http://www.1001fonts.com/font_details.html?font_id=2893

Check it out and try "the weekend widowmakers" (all non-caps) for a preview. It's edgy and interesting at the same time. What do you guys think? And what should our graphic be? Was thinking of keeping it non-game specific since we're bouncing around games all the time anyway.

Black widow idea's interesting but not the headless silhouettes. Anything else? I was thinking of a stylised headstone with the inscription, "lost to the frag" on it. But then again, that doesn't go with pink. :)
Could incorporate the black widow on the headstone. Would make for a mondo kewl t-shirt. Either that or we could go simple and just have a t-shirt with text and no graphics.

Weekend widowmakers + our nicks at the back. (Original nicks)

I favour words only, possibly only just "WW". I mean, to those who know, this will mean something: to those who don't, it doesn't matter anyway. I'd rather focus on making the design look good.

WEEKEND WIDOWS UNITE! Veto! VETO!! The name's self reinforcing! We'll never see our husbands again! (coz we're all busy at work during the week *ahem*!) They'll use this name as an excuse to congregate and game! VETO!!!
