Circuit Training?
Here's an idea:
Since we're gaming together as a group, we might want to take a more structured approach to our gaming, in view of training to fight together as a team.
Most of us have sussed out the roles that suit us best. Berliner clearly prefers, and excels, at the sniper role. Packrat's a close assault type, with SMGs and pistol whips as specialities. Pshrike seems half-snipe, half-assault in temperament and skill. Fannwong is ... well, just generally crazy, and we all try and stay away from him. No wait, just kidding, but I really don't know how to characterise him. Ludwig's a pretty good sniper, and it's too early to tell for Mark, but we can see that develop. I'll leave others to characterise me. Correct me if I am wrong in my assessment, or express own preferences.
We could try to work on team work next. Stay in fixed teams for the next session, with an equal mix of assault (SMG, rifle) and support (snipers, MGs in overwatch) persons, and practice communication, SOPs, getting used to each other's styles. Perhaps have a half time where we mix groupings to get familiarity. Focus on co-ordination, teamwork, communication, etc. Play TDMs, CTFs, and other team-based scenarios.
What do people think?

I like the idea. Actually was thinking about doing that the next game.
Agree with assessments: Slight alterations for the following:
Pshrike: Assault man. Nice clean up man when I inevitably get my head blown off for John Woo theatrics. I see him sneaking around killing from the side/back.
Ludwig: Assault man 2/Sniper 2. Works well flanking and sniping. Not as invisible as Berliner but good with backup. Team up with Pshrike?
Fannwong!: Definite assault. Only person that actually makes me think twice about CQ combat. Less run and gun, more sneak attacks. Good mousework.
Icarus: Works very well as counter-sniper to Berliner. Definite enemy team sniper.
I think the groupings should be built around the two snipers:
Team Icarus: Icarus, Packrat, Pshrike
Team Berliner: Berliner, Fannwong!, Ludwig, mark.
Could actually play around with the combinations a bit. There's space for adjustment.
Would be good if we could find another clan to play against. :) I like the idea of a 2 sniper team with 2 assault teams backing them up.
1 Final assessment:
Packrat: Hunter/Killer. I don't have the patience to wait around so I'm usually roaming. More the reckless assault team.
My idea was that we'd train towards eventually forming a clan, and taking on other teams. Didn't want to say it in the post cos it sounds so ... militaristic.
Gotta find a role for Mark, unless the assumption is that generalists are run-and-gunners.
Building each team around 1 sniper (support, cover, overwatch) and a 2-man assault team (you need two to watch each other's back, and to clean up) is a good idea.
As a 6 man team, an alternative is 1 sniper, 1 suppresive fire (MG/deployable MG) and 2 assault teams.
I think what we need to work on is providing cover for the dudes who are sniping. More practice on these things when we next play?
Two man teams, etc. Spotter can also be the guy who tells the sniper where to train the rifle sights. Working alone as a sniper isn't fun, especially when an SMGer creeps up on you.
Sounds goot. So should we split to two teams first to train up? Unfortunately, no bots to fight so we'll just need to pit teams Alpha and Bravo against each other. Suppressive fire needs to be in a 6 man squad and unfortunately, that means that we have 1 other guy running around taking fire from 6. :)
Mark will need to figure out his forte. So far, still feeling out the game. That said, he's been trying out the single player missions.
okies, sounds great. we roxx0rs!! wooohooo!!
